The Commander drew closer.

‘The Dark Hearts recognise neither family nor friendship and will gladly betray one another if it serves their purpose. They are only interested in what they can get.”

Amelie Trott & The Earth Watchers is a delightful middle-grade adventure story which brought to mind awe-inspiring child activist, Greta Thunberg and my childhood love of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five Series.

Amelie Trott and her brother, Tim live in Hadleigh House, a falling-down manor house in a quaint seaside town in England. They live with their grieving artist mother, ancient great-grandfather, Freddie the black cat, Lara the dog, and a ghost in the attic. But not all is as it seems, when the children and their friend Isla, uncover evil plans to throw them out of Hadleigh House forever.

Amelie Trott & The Earth Watchers is a warm-hearted, wonderfully entertaining tale about family, friendship (including intergalactic friends!), people power, and what it means to fight for world peace. Highly recommended for children everywhere.

Publisher’s blurb:

When would-be author, Amelie Trott, meets a ten foot tall stranger on the stairs she is faced with an impossible challenge: to rescue her family home from the clutches of the devious Bottomley-Slighs. However, she is soon to discover that this is simply a rehearsal for averting a more sinister danger still – the End of the World… This is the extraordinary story of how one small girl stopped a planetary catastrophe. It’s a very timely book, written for the child in us all, with a forceful message about the power of young people to transform the world – a theme currently demonstrated by brave young heroes like Greta Thunberg. And with magical synchronicity, the very week Greta began her lone vigil outside the Swedish government last year, over 1,000 miles (1,897 km) away in the fictional world of books, Amelie Trott took to Parliament Square, London – on a mission to avert the End of the World.

Amelie Trott & The Earth Watchers is published by Dixi Books and due for release on 28 March 2020. It is available for pre-order from major online book retailers.
